Obituary

. Mr. James Finley Beveridge, 86, died November 20, 2015 in Asheville. He was born December 22, 1928 to James F. Beveridge of Dundee, Scotland and Agnes Murray Beveridge in Manhattan, New York where he attended the New York High School of Performing Arts. Jim Beveridge started his family in Asheville, North Carolina where he founded the Crowning Glory Beauty Salon and served as the Jehovah's Witness Congregation Overseer. Jim considered himself a resident of the world and made a home in Riobamba, Ecuador; Sarasota and Lido Key, Florida; Germany and Switzerland; Aspen Colorado; Mountain City, Georgia and Highlands North Carolina.

Jim Beveridge was highly intelligent, a deep spiritual counselor who continued to pursue understanding through passion for the highest and most complex of spiritual thought. He never stopped learning and teaching openness. He was an amazing visual artist, a delightful competitive ballroom dancer, and a wonderful actor who performed several community productions with the Sarasota Players Theatre. Jim was a fierce lover of freedom who spread joy wherever he was present. He maintained and advocated for alternative health care through: Acupuncture, Reflexology, Iridology, Reiki, Rolfing, and healing with a macrobiotic diet.

Mr. Beveridge is survived by his 4 children, Fiora Lewis Lizak, Evon Walton Beveridge, James Michael Beveridge and Tanya Michelle Burly; nine grandchildren: Lauren Ashley Lewis Butcher, Amy Patricia Lewis, Joshua Graham Beveridge, Andrew Michael Beveridge, Stephen Daniel Beveridge, Ivana Grace Beveridge, Ian Michael Burley, Calvin Michael Beveridge, Riley Quinn Beveridge; and three great-grandchildren: Lilah Grove Butcher, Simone Olivia Early, and Kennedy Harper Burley. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Wallace Beveridge, John Beveridge, William Beveridge
